We are now offering a few Elk Hunting options in unit 67.
The Experience
Unit 67 is a limited Elk hunting unit which means you need points to successfully draw the tag. This also means it’s managed for quality and because of that, there are opportunities to harvest trophy bulls during these hunts (300”+). There are also landowner tags available from time to time (call for availability). We offer elk hunts in unit 67 for the 3rd and 4th rifle seasons. This is a spot and stalk hunt.
Lodging
3rd and 4th rifle hunts in unit 67 take place in mid to late November and because of this, we do not utilize a camp. Hunters will stay at our hunting lodge (air bnb) in the town of Gunnison, where you get your own room, and a full service chef to serve you delicious hot meals after a long day of hunting.
3rd Rifle Elk Hunts (Unit 67)
November 9 – November 13
By this time of year, most of the mature bulls have split off from the herd, and are solitary or with other bulls in a bachelor group. This is a spot and stalk hunt, and we will spend most of the day covering country in the truck, and on foot, utilizing optics as much as possible. Once we locate a bull we want to pursue, we will make a stalk to get into an effective shooting location.
4th Rifle Elk Hunts (Unit 67)
November 20 – November 24
By 4th rifle, bulls will be in bachelor groups, and if the weather is cold, they’ll be out feeding for extended periods, often into the late morning, making them easy to glass up. This is a great season to try and kill a trophy bull (300”+). This is a spot and stalk hunt.
